Broom Boat Decking and Flooring Refurbishment Options
Decking and Flooring Overview
Broom Luxury Motor Yachts are long-range luxury motor yachts renowned for being robustly built along with traditional style interiors. Some are fitted with exterior natural teak decks that eventually need replacing or early generation PVC synthetic teak decks. The customer is faced with the choice of replacing with expensive and less available natural teak or using more readily available products. Brooms built without teak decking to the cockpits or decks are sometimes given a facelift with new decking, particularly when a new owner has taken delivery. Areas that are enclosed under a canopy most may be viewed as internal or external spaces. If you are at all unsure then contact us for advice.
Exterior decking products considered to be good options are PVC synthetic teak, composite cork or plain vinyls. PVC synthetic teak looks the most realistic when comparing with a natural teak deck but it is not the most environmentally friendly and does get hot to walk on. Cork composite is a completely natural product and is more pleasant to walk on. Plain vinyl is a good budget solution and can still look great. It is also an easy to lay DIY option, especially supplied ready cut to a template.
The Broom typically has a bound edge carpet in the saloon area. Teak Carpet, Vinyl, Woven Vinyl or Cork products for better sound insulation are worth looking at when considering interior refurbishment. Cabin areas may be less important in terms of choosing a dedicated marine flooring product if they are not likely to get wet, damp or heavily exposed to UV sunlight.
